2003-2006 Organization Goals and Objectives

Goal 1 (all bureaus)
Protect the community by preventing and reducing crime and violence.

  • Reduce the threat/incidence of crime
  • Develop strategies and implement resources to respond to terrorism
  • Develop and support innovative community based programs aimed at reducing crime and violence
  • Develop and promote effective partnerships with community groups to respond to community needs and expectations, and foster community support

Goal 2 (Jail/Court)
Provide for the safe, humane and secure confinement of persons in custody.

  • Provide for safe, secure and humane confinement of detained persons awaiting trial or sentencing, and the sentenced population
  • Maintain and operate correction facilities in a safe, secure, humane and efficient manner
  • Ensure sufficient and cost effective operations in the correction facilities
  • Provide services and programs to facilitate inmates successful return into the community

Goal 3 (all bureaus)
Ensure efficient, consistent and safe function of the criminal justice system.

  • Ensure the integrity and safe and secure operations of the judicial system by protecting judges and other participants in court proceedings
  • Protect crime victims rights and assist in moving them through the criminal justice system
  • Ensure the appearance of defendants for judicial proceedings or confinement through secure transportation

Goal 4 (all bureaus)
Ensure respect, integrity, teamwork, excellence and accountability in the management and conduct of our workforce and services.

  • Promote core values of respect, integrity, teamwork and excellence in our workforce
  • Provide efficient and cost effective use of resources to ensure public trust and confidence
  • Improve integrity and security of computer systems and make more effective use of information technology
  • Strengthen human resource recruitment and performance to ensure a skilled and diverse workforce committed to achieving excellence
  • Improve organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency of the workforce
  • Provide timely and consistent services
  • Provide accessible, accurate, easy to use and current information to meet planning and operational needs
  • Ensure adequate resources are available to meet responsibilities and achieve excellence
